Hirtshals Fishing Festival is three festive days with fish in focus. There are plenty of tastings, children's activities and the opportunity to learn new things about fish and fishing. Remember to eat lots of fresh fish – it's both healthy, good and easy!

THURSDAY 01.08.2024
10:00 Official opening
Join us for the official opening with a speech by Hjørring Municipality's mayor Søren Smalbro.

10:00-13:00 Food workshop for families
Come and get inspiration for delicious meals with fish, under the expert guidance of chefs and staff from the Nordsøen Oceanarium and Halvorsminde Efterskole & Free Vocational School.
In the "Ship" tent. Price DKK 50 for adults, children under 12 free. Payable in the tent on the day.
10:00-15:00 Local cooking
North Jutland cooking competition with the participation of the best North Jutland restaurants.

Jump aboard the museum cutter HG 159 "Johs. Hejlesen” and see Hirtshals from the water side.

Visit Hirtshals Fish Auction, Hirtshals Kassevaskeri, a short walk along the central part of the harbor, where we look at various fishing vessels, and hear the skilled guide from the North Sea Oceanarium talk along the way.

Experience the exciting fish market, buy fresh fish at good prices, get delicious samples and learn about fish.

Homemade lunch plate with fresh, locally caught fish.

Local guilds have brewed bjesk based on selected local herbs supplied by Hirtshals Museum. The Bjesklaugene compete for the title and honor of Bjesk of the Year 2024.

Bid on fish and experience a festive fish auction with an auctioneer from Hirtshals Fish Auction.
