The volunteers

On 1 – 3 August 2024, you can again participate as a volunteer at the Hirtshals Fishing Festival, which is held on the first weekend in August, where around 10,000 guests visit Hirtshals to experience the town, the fish and the fishing. The activities at the festival are of course built around the raw materials, but also everything the volunteers can and want. And in Hirtshals there is a tradition of lifting in groups.

"There is simply no fishing festival without the volunteers. The volunteers are the backbone of the whole experience, from the practice in setting up the tasting stalls and cooking fish patties, to the friendly smile that makes the tourists feel at home in the harbor city" says Uffe Truelsen, who is the coordinator of the festival and continues "We would like to emphasize that everyone is more than usually welcome as a volunteer. There is room for the new and the experienced. There is room for young and old and those in the middle. So feel free to take your neighbor under your arm and join us for a volunteer evening in good company. I dare to promise, it goes well…”

"We are looking forward to meeting all the volunteers who are just waiting to get started again, and we will do everything we can to get all the former volunteers and hopefully also a lot of new ones into the community, that characterizes our festival. This is one of the reasons why we have this new initiative and meet before Hirtshal's Fishing Festival kicks off in August - we actually can't wait to meet all the volunteers and feel the energy and togetherness", says Ditte Sørensen, chairman of the fishing festival.
